Maison Mantin
En résidence au Musée de l'Illustration Jeunesse, j’ai exploré la Maison Mantin, maison bourgeoise du 19e siècle gardé en état. J’ai recensé les personnages qui habitent tapisseries et tableaux, les fleurs qui poussent sur ses assiettes ou les animaux nichés dans les boiseries. J’ai répertorié les formes, les couleurs et les matériaux, les typographies pour créer une série d’inventaires graphiques qui donne à voir la collection Mantin autrement.
Les étapes du protocole de création formulées sous forme de commandements traduisent à la fois le rangement progressif de la collection et mon processus de création à partir d’une base de donnée.
During my residency at the Musée de l'Illustration Jeunesse, I explored the Maison Mantin, a 19th-century bourgeois house preserved in its original state. I cataloged the characters inhabiting its tapestries and paintings, the flowers blooming on its plates, and the animals nestled in its woodwork. I documented shapes, colors, materials, and typographies to create a series of graphic inventories that offer a new perspective on the Mantin collection.
The steps of the creative process, formulated as commandments, reflect both the gradual organization of the collection and my own approach to creation based on a dataset.
